Husbands Christmas card

Well, I've finally got round to making my Hubbys Christmas card...

This card is based on one of our cats - Lily.
Lily is a little monkey when we get the tree up...she's up inside,
jangling all the baubles as soon as our backs are turned.
She had a bad spell in October and
we didn't think she would be up to her tricks this year with the tree...she has proved us wrong!
We KNOW she is feeling better for sure, now!

This card fits right in with our challenge this week at
Glittter n Sparkle - it's the "glittery, sparkly Christmas" challenge.

This adorable image is from Sami Stamps
and is called "ornament kitty"
and I coloured her to look like Lily.
I coloured the bauble with my promarkers
and then added some lines of glitter on the red stripe.
After is was backed onto the backing paper, I added diecut snowflakes
which all have a little glittered heart in the middle, and then I finished off
with a precious heart diecut, also glittered with glamour dust.

I made the sentiment on the pc and the
"meowy christmas" came as a freebie from desert divas.
(I also glittered the little hat there, and the little snowballs.)

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Christmas fireplace.

I was lucky enough this week, to get another image
from Patties Creations to play with
for our Traditional / non traditional colours challenge
over at Glitter n Sparkle this week.
This one is "The night before Christmas"

I coloured it all with promarkers and
decoupaged the stockings and fire.
Glossy accents picks out the flames - hard to see.
I used my precious hearts die - just the ribbon part,
and added a diecut star to the end
as i would love precious stars die, but dont have it.
(thought I would try to make my own! )
The sentiment is a freebie from Desert divas.. a great blog to visit.

Our challenge this week at Glitter n Sparkle is to use
"Tradional / non traditional Christmas colours"...

This card is one I made for my sister and her family...
I used "Holiday Topiary" from Patties Creations. (twice!)
I printed off one topiary tree and carefully flipped the image
in publisher, to print off the other one.
The backing paper is from an old Docrafts set of papers
and it is embossed with the swiss dots folder.
The holly is a small punch I have, with a little red gem.

Blue Christmas

I was thrilled to recieve this gorgeous image for this weeks challenge
at Glitter n Sparkle -
it's called "Winter Fae" from Morgans Artworld....

I knew I wanted to use this image to make a Christmas card for our 12 year old niece.
I coloured her coat, hair and skin with my promarkers and
her cuffs and hood were filled with docrafts glitter.
I used a free sentiment I found on t'internet
and embossed an edge around it.
(I feel it gives a professional finish.)
After matting the image I added a precious hearts memory box die
and a Martha Stewart punched snowflake border.
The backing paper - I think - is from DCWV
and I carefully ripped the edges to soften the look.

Poinsettias

At Patties Creations this month,
we are asking you to join our challenge with a
"Christmas" theme...

I used Patties image - Poinsettias in Flowerpot.

It was lovely to colour with my promarkers.
I decoupaged some of the flowers, to give some depth to the card.
I embossed a simple line around the edge of a dovecrafts backing paper
...and I love the little hearts  in the centre of the snowflakes.
I finished with a grosgrain ribbon and a craftwork cards sentment.

My Grandma LOVES poinsettias, so this card will be perfect for her.

"Add a bow"
and my lovely image is from
and it's called Christmas candles 2.

It's so hard to see on this photo, but I have glittered the bow...fiddly!
I also have put glossy accents on the candles,
stickles glitter on the candle lights
and liquid pearls on the berries.
The background has been embossed with swiss dots
and I used a spellbinders die -cut the fancy shape with the sentiment.
I coloured the image with the new lyra pencils that I won recently.

Purple and Black

Ooh, I have loved this image for a long time...
It's called "Spring flower hair" and is from
for our...
PURPLE AND BLACK
challenge this week, at Glitter n Sparkle.

I am showing 2 pics of this card as I wanted to show
the 3d look of the butterflies in her hair.
I embossed the piece behind the image, on my bigshot.
The purple paper is from a freebie pack.
I've had it years  and not used any of it - till now!

I coloured her with my promarkers,
and also used some pencils on top of her hair and flowers, to give depth of colour.
A marianne die, piece of organza ribbon,
small piece of punched border and diecut butterfly, finished her.

Let it snow.

This week, at Glitter n Sparkle,
this theme is one of my faves...
"use a diecut or punch."
I got the image "Elsa" from Sunsational Stamps...

I coloured her with my promarkers and it's hard to see...
but on the snowflakes on her dress, I used stickles glitter for a bit of sparkle.
The window is the Grand Madison window, from Memorybox dies
and the greenery on the windowsill and the snowflakes are both
Martha Stewart punches.
The sentiment and diecut embossed trees in the background are
from Craftwork Cards.

Cool cats

So... this week, we would like you to "use some red"
for the challenge at Glitter n Sparkle.
I used a fab image from SLS Lines, called
"Cool cat Kitty cat"...

I coloured with my promarkers and
embossed a simple line around the image.
The backing paper of from a dovecrafts 6 x 6 paper set, which is yeeeeeears old.
I added a wide red strip and the zigzag stitching is a rub-on, which again -
I have had for yeeeears!
The sentiment came as a freebie from Desert Divas,
and I knew I neeeded something else, but couldn't think what ...
I hunted around and found an old -forgottten-about-die,
the little black picture holders.
I tried to keep this card  quite simple and thought it could work for a man's card!

Friday 6 November 2015

A sweet birthday.

This month, over at Patties Creations, the theme is...
"birthdays."
An easy one!
I used 3 of Patties images...
lollipop jar, bubblegum machine and chocolate chip cookie jar.

I made this card for a friend at work - Louise.
She has a little (ok, not so little!) stash of sweeties hidden away in a cupboard at work,
so I thought this would suit her down to the ground!
I printed off each image, coloured with my promarkers
and carefully fussy-cut around each one so i could lay them exactly where
I wanted them on my card.
The bubblegum machine has been popped up slightly on 3d foam squares.
The sentiment is from Pink Petticoat
and I found a similar font on my pc, to create her name.
I drew a line behind the sweetie jars, to "ground" them
and added some shadows with my grey promarker.
After matting and layering on a pink spotty background, I hand-drew
a faux-stitched edge.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges...

Addicted to stamps - CAS - 11 Nov
Through the craft room door - atg - 10 Nov

Anything Goes week.

is "anything goes!"

I chose this super-cute image, called "Eve"
from Crafty Sentiments.

I coloured Eve with my promarkers
and popped her on  a backing paper that came free some time ago.
I diecut the shape behind her with my spellbinders die
and added a digi sentiment.
As I often do, I inked the edges of everything,
and added a few punched butterfly and a diecut star.

Sunday 25 October 2015

It's definitely Autumn!

The clocks have gone back,
 the weather is turning colder,
and the leaves look like jewels -  rich oranges, golds and browns....

So, over at Glitter and Sparkle, we have the theme :
"Fall / Autumn"

(I'm from the northwest of England, so it's
Autumn for me, although I love the word "fall".)

My image is form Bugaboo and is called "Autumn Jar."

I loved colouring this image with my promarkers.
I decoupaged some parts...like the sunflower, the pumpkin and the acorn.

The sentiment is from Pink Petticoat
(which is soon to close, so pop over there and grab a bargain in the sale, while you can!)
which I thought completely suited the image.
I wanted to keep this card clean and simple.
I added a simple line and dotted frame, with a brown and an orange fineliner.
Then, I finished by matting onto a backing paper and inking all the edges.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges...

Almost Halloween...

I was thrilled this week, to be able to play with this
 super-cute image from Sami Stamps
called "witch's cat" .
This card is for our challenge - "halloween - cute or spooky"
over at Glitter n Sparkle....

I knew, as soon as I saw this image, that I would size it well and use it with my die-
"grand madison window" from memory box.
I was hunting around for some "starry" paper, and
found this bargain (£3) embossing folder in The Range!
I'm sure it will do many various types of cards, so i pounced on it!
I have dusted a silver inkpad just over the stars, to get the silver gleam on each star.
I made a little blind, using a scrap of  co-ordinating paper and
a little piece of border punched card
and finally made a quick, handwritten sign to "hang up" at the window.

The image was coloured with my promarkers.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

First up.... at Glitter n Sparkle this week,
the challenge is to "use some pink"...
well, I went all out!
(It's breast cancer care month and I thought the "whole pink" thing,
making yourself look the best you can, would fit perfectly.)

I used "Princess Jennifer Latte Vanity" from The Stamping Boutique.
She was lovely to colour with my promarkers.
I decoupaged the latte cup on the side
and added a pink backing, with a slice of embossed circle flowers,
then a couple of cuttlebug diecut corners and
the handbag sentiment is from craftwork cards.

Girly

At Glitter n Sparkle this week,
we have a new sponsor - Julia Spiri...
She has recently started her own ( very cute!!) digi designs...
for this weeks challenge (anything goes)
I was thrilled to receive "girl with pigtails."

I made this card with a little girl in mind - to receive it for her birthday.
I used a marianne die-cut birdcage (I left the little door open),
memory box die-cut birds,
sizzix die-cut present and Martha Stewart punched butterflies, along with a
"frame" which i made out of 4 punched pieces of border.
I think the sentiment was a freebie...maybe at 'Birds' freebie site,
which I don't think is around anymore :(
A little bit of doodling with white dots here n there, and colouring the
girl with pigtails with my promarkers, finished this card.

Autumn

Over at Patties Creations this month,
we would like you to join our challenge with
"A fall / autumn" image.
I chose this gorgeous Autumn Wreath image from Patties Creations...

It was an absolute dream to colour (with my promarkers).
and I added a little glossy accents to the acorns.
After fussy cutting the wreath
(which took a lot of time,. but I thought was well worth it!)
I popped it onto a kraft card background, which I had already embossed.
I popped a "memory box precious heart" in gold, behind the wreath
and finished with some inking of the edges, matting, and a
stamped sentiment, sat on another piece
of kraft card, border punched in dark brown.

I made this card for my Grandma, who is going

Blog hop....and candy!

It's our 3rd birthday over at the GlitternSparkle blog
and all the Design Team are all offering Blog Candy!

More details shortly, but first...
here's my card for this week.

I had been after this image for aggges...love it! sooo retro!
I had a 3d viewer just like this, with "snow white" and "disney" reels!

The theme for our birthday bloghop is "add glitter n sparkle"
(which is what i used)
or
add a charm.

Even though there is glitter n sparkle on this card, i think  it could
also work as a mans card - with the retro toy we all remember (a boy-toy!)

I coloured the image:
with my promarkers, and added the white with
a white, fine graph it marker.
I found some mega sparkly silver card for the backing, and
a black and white "dovecraft" 6 x 6 paper for the very back.
I typed the words "love retro" on my clicky dynamo...
very 80's! lol.
A couple of holographic spiral diecuts finished this card.

the black slim border and the fancy square shape.
